This week was an eventful week!

It began on Monday with our Boosterthon Pep Rally.  The BJHS Drumline came to perform.  Everyone had an awesome time.

These are members of the BJHS Drumline who are former WM students!  Congratulations to them. They are awesome!

This week was also Red Ribbon Week!

We all had a great time dressing up and professing at WM that we are drug free!

We even had students from BJ come to do a play for our K-2 students for Red Ribbon Week.

 

 

The Firemen were also at WM for Fire Prevention Week!

Our 4th -6th Grade Voted in a state wide Mock Election on Tuesday!

Look What’s Happening at West Madison

This week was an awesome week at West Madison.  October is always a very busy month.

The most exciting thing:  Wednesday, students were able to begin playing on the new playground.  All the students want to say “thank you” parents.  They were hugging me and saying thank you.  They are thoroughly enjoying it.

The date we have been waiting for  is almost here!

Monday will be the kick off for our Boosterthon.  The BJHS Drumline will come to perform.

Leadership Opportunities for our students

Each 5th and 6th grade student has a Kindergarten or a First Grade buddy.  Mrs. Daugherty provides opportunities for the groups to get together to share, play games etc.  Each Monday at Monday Assembly, the 6th grade and K sit together.  It is so precious to see the 6th graders help the K sit quietly and put the correct hand over their heart when we say the pledge.

Congratulations to Mrs. Allen

Mrs. Allen was recognized along with 2 other counselors from Madison City for winning the RAVE Award.  She will be recognized by the Alabama School Counselor Association in November!

We are so proud of her!  We have the best Counselor!

On Friday, we had several of our 5th graders went to perform with other students at the Alabama Music Educators Association in Birmingham.

Our Elementary Student 2 Student Group presenting a short play for our students at Monday Assembly.  We all have more in common  than we know.  Students learned the best way to invite a new student into a group to play.

St. Jude Adorable Pet Contest

Thank you so much for your entries.  Voting takes place this  upcoming week, Oct. 27.   I will be sending an email at the beginning of the week with a picture of the entries.  The pictures will be up in the hall outside the library.

Happy Fall Break

I pray everyone is getting some much needed rest.

Have a wonderful time and be safe!  We had many families traveling!  We look forward to seeing you back on Oct. 10.

 

Highlights from the Madison Street Festival

It was great seeing so many of our current and former students in the parade !

 

 

Continuing with our Older Students mentoring our younger students

We have added 5th Grader/First Grade Buddy Program.

 

We have gotten quite a few new students these past few weeks.  We would like to welcome them with West Madison bags and a letter from the WM S2S students!
