Look What’s Happening at West Madison

We had a visit this week from Madison Fire and Rescue.  They talked to the kids about fire safety.  The students got a chance to go into the safe house, a simulation house designed to help kids know how to get out of their house in case of a fire. The students learned a lot.

This is a picture of Owens Elementary.  It is the school in Houston we have adopted. They are in the Houston area and apart of the Cypress Independent School District.  I have talked to the Principal.  She stated that the school itself was not effected, however many of the families were effected and are displaced.  A lot of the families have not been able to work since all this began.   There are many disadvantaged students and because the families are not able to work they are not able purchase school supplies and clothes.  Their first day of school is tomorrow, September 11.  The principal stated the best way to help is to send Walmart gift cards.  We will collect from September 11-15.  I will mail everything directly to the principal over the weekend.  If you would like to contribute, please send money or Walmart gift cards to your child’s teacher.  It would be best to send the gift cards in small amounts of $10-$20.  The money we collect, I will purchase small Walmart gift cards.

Thank you in advanced for your generosity!
