Look What’s Happening at West Madison

Look What’s Happening at West Madison

This week we celebrated Dr. Seuss!
We began the week with several of our 4th grade Cub Scouts with a traditional Flag Ceremony.  They did awesome.  It takes a lot of courage to get up in front of 470 of your peers.  I am so proud of them.

We also had Madison’s Mayor Trulock come and read a portion of “And to think I saw  it on Mulberry Street.”

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go…”
― Dr. SeussOh, The Places You’ll Go!

Oh the Places We have Gone During the Week
We had readers come from all over the world!

2nd grade reader read The Very Hungry Caterpillar in French

Mrs. Warren’s class

Kindergarten had a reader read a book in Italian
First Grade reader read Are you My Mother and talked about her job in the military and travels to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait
Stallworth and Daniel’s class reader spoke in German

We had plans to Skype with a class in Canada on Thursday.  That will be rescheduled for Tuesday.

Highlights from Dr. Seuss Cafe

Third Grade readers read Dr. Seuss books to K students.  Students were also treated to a Dr. Seuss snack.

I am so proud of our 6th Grade Math Team
They won 2nd place at the Math Tournament at Pizitz Middle School last weekend!
