Look What’s Happening at West Madison

Welcome Back Everyone!

The first week back to school was pretty  amazing.  It was great seeing everyone and getting to know our new students.

 

Going and visiting classrooms this past week was the highlight of my day.  Teachers were doing getting to know you and team building activities.

One of the things I enjoyed the most was the 6th grade team building activities in PE.  The first activity, the students had to work in a group  to get all the members of their team across an imaginary river only stepping inside the hoola hoop.  It was great watching them work together to get across.

The other activity involved each member of the group holding hands while they figured out how to get untied.  The key:  they couldn’t drop hands.  They had to listen to each other and try different ideas.  They did a great job.

They also made something they would like to learn about this year, and something to represent what they would like to be when they grow up.

5th Grade Curriculum Night – Tuesday Aug. 15 at 5:00 in the Library.  We will be live streaming all Curriculum Nights on our WM Facebook page.  If you cannot make it, please tune in.

We will reschedule the 6th Grade Curriculum Night to Aug. 31 at 5:00 due to dismissing at 11:00 on Aug. 21.

Aug. 21 – All students will dismiss at 11:00 There will be no expanded day

Aug. 22 – 3rd Grade Curriculum Night 5:00 in the library

Aug. 23 – 4th Grade Curriculum Night 5:00 in the library

Aug. 28 – PTA Fundraiser Begins

Aug. 28 – 1st Grade Curriculum Night 5:00 in the library

Aug. 29 – 2nd Grade Curriculum Night 5:00 in the library

Aug 30 – Kindergarten Curriculum Night 5:00 in the library

Aug. 31 – 6th Grade Curriculum Night

September 1 – Students dismiss at 11:00 1/2 day collaboration for teachers
